About Art of hockey

Art of Hockey is a player development company that was founded in Maryland now based in Minnesota. Our training is built around creativity, hockey IQ, and game-transfer development, helping players build skills that translate beyond drills and into real game situations.

Meet Coach Keppler

Nick Keppler, known to many players as Coach Kepp, is the Founder of Art of Hockey and has coached hundreds of players across youth, high school, and junior hockey. Most recently, he served as an Interim Assistant Coach with the Minnesota Mallards (NAHL).

Prior to joining the Mallards, Keppler served as Head Coach of the River Lakes Stars Boys High School Hockey Program in Minnesota. Before relocating to Minnesota, he spent several years in the DMV area as Youth Development Director and Assistant Hockey Director for the Tri-City Eagles, one of the region's fastest-growing hockey organizations. He also coached at DeMatha Catholic High School and was part of the 2023 MAPHL Championship coaching staff.

In 2019, Keppler was recognized with the MAPHL Ervin J. Terwilliger Coach of the Year Award. He holds USA Hockey Level 4 Coaching Certification and maintains current SafeSport, First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.

Coach Keppler's approach focuses on helping players develop the skills, hockey IQ, and confidence needed to perform in real game situations. Through game-based training and individualized coaching, he helps players better understand the game, make faster decisions, and play with confidence.

When he isn't at the rink (or watching hockey), Coach Keppler can usually be found spending time with his wife, Elizabeth, and their daughters, Blake and Emma, planning the family's next adventure.
